Plasmon Showcases New Optical and RAID Storage Technology
Plasmon plans to demonstrate two new storage products at Storage Expo, being held in London on 12th and 13th October 2005.
These new products represent major additions to both of Plasmons primary product lines: Raidtec
Solutions for RAID primary storage and UDO for secure archival storage. The Raidtec FS3102 is a new
Fibre Channel RAID subsystem for SME environments and the new Compliant Write Once UDO media has been
designed to meet the evolving regulatory compliance requirements for data archives.
Steve Tongish, director of marketing (EMEA) at Plasmon, will also be presenting a paper in the Seminar Programme entitled: "Techno Diversity - The Integrated Use of NAS, SCSI and Fibre Channel Architectures" on 13th October from 3.00-3.30pm in the Technical stream. This session uses a natural ecosystem analogy to put forth the concept of "Techno Diversity" as an alternative to monolithic storage architectures. In nature, the greater the bio diversity, the stronger the overall ecosystem.
The new Raidtec FS3102 combines professional quality Serial ATA disk drives and a dual 2Gbit Fibre Channel host interface in a high-density 2U, 12 bay enclosure. The FS3102 is ideal for mid-sized and department business applications requiring storage consolidation and expansion using a Fibre Channel SAN infrastructure. The FS3102 is a fully configured out-of-the-box RAID solution that comes standard with Plasmon's Raidtec Manager interface for the remote configuration, management and monitoring of one or more subsystems.
Compliant Write Once UDO media adds a third media format to Plasmon's UDO archival storage product line. The new media has been designed specifically for archives subject to regulations with strict record retention periods and disposition (destruction) requirements. Compliant Write Once media combines the strength of WORM technology with new "shred" functionality that ensures the physical destruction of records once they have reached end-of-life.
In addition to showcasing the Raidtec FS3102 and Compliant Write Once UDO media at Storage Expo, Plasmon will be demonstrating their G-Series libraries Powered by UDO, and the Raidtec CS3102 SCSI attached RAID system.
