U-Tech Starts Productiuon of Pre-recorded HD DVD Discs
U-Tech Media, the largest maker of pre-recorded discs in Taiwan, has successfully developed and produced pre-recorded HD DVD discs, with sample products currently under certification by potential clients, according to the company.
Currently, Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation (DADC) and Memory-Tech are the main producers of HD DVD movie discs.
Taiwanese U-Tech plans to initially secure orders from vendors of consumer electronics, such as DVD players, who will bundle HD DVD movie discs with their products, Digitimes.com reports citing sources from U-Tech.
U-Tech Media was founded by Ritek March 2000 and is dedicated to the research and development of pre-recorded media. Through its parent company (Ritek), U-Tech is also expected to enter the development of pre-recorded Blu-ray discs in the first half of this year.
