Computex: New Blu-Ray/HD DVD Drive by Hitachi LG
Hitachi LG Data Storage exhibited the GGW-H20N, a new Blu-Ray/HD DVD combo drive for PCs at Computex, Taipei.
The successor of the GGW-H10N drive, which the company developed last month, is expected to offer recording on BD-R/RE SL and DL, DVD+R/+RW/-R/-RW as well as DVD-RAM media. Support for CD-R/RW burning is also included in the drive's capabilities. As for HD DVD, LG seems to have chosen to support just reading of HD DVD-ROM, according to reports from Taipei. LG's representatives at the Computex show did not unveil the exact specifications of the new SATA drive, although it is considered as an upgraded version of the GGW-H10N.
