Samsung has won a ruling against rival Apple in a court in The Hague and will seek compensation for damages. The Netherlands' District Court of The Hague ruled that Apple violated a patent related to a 3G technology owned by Samsung. According to the court, the violation applies to iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4 and iPad 1 and 2, the court said.

Samsung is expectd to seek compensation from Apple for the damages. Damages should be based on Dutch sales figures since August 4, 2010, which the court said was the date when Apple could have known it was violating Samsung's patent.

The Dutch court dismissed three other patent infringements claimed by Samsung.

Samsung had previously attempted to use four patents to get Apple's iPads and iPhones banned in Netherlands, but the court rejected Samsung's claims.
