Facebook Introduces the Facebook Card
Facebook on Thursday expanded its Gifts program and introduced gift cards, which consumers can use at Target and a other businesses, in the social network's latest move into the retail market.
Beginning today, consumers can give their friends gifts to Jamba Juice, Olive Garden, Sephora, and Target all on one reusable gift card from Facebook.
Users can send the cards or Facebook Credits to their friends through Facebook's Gifts product. Once a card is purchased, the friend is alerted. A few days later, the friend receives a card in the mail. Users can keep track of the balance online. One card works with all of the retailers and can have multiple balances. The balances can be monitored on Facebook mobile apps.
Facebook said the ability to send a Facebook Card gift would roll out gradually to people in the US.
