Acer Debuts 8-inch Iconia Android Tablet, New Smartphones And Wearable Device

Taiwanese PC maker Acer is rolling out an 8-inch Android tablet, the Octa-Core LTE Liquid X1, Liquid Z200, Liquid E700, E600 smartphones, along with its first wearable Device, the Liquid Leap smartband. The Acer Iconia Tab 8 is a 8-inch tablet with a Full HD display with IPS and Zero Air Gap technologies to reduce reduce light reflection. The display also features an anti-fingerprint coating and a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Measuring in at 8.5 mm thin and weighing 360 g light, the tablet sports a sleek design with a metallic silver rear cover and slim profile and it is powered by an Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core processor. It is also equipped with dual speakers, sports dual front and rear cameras along with a MicroSD card slot.

The tablet runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and features Acer Touch WakeApp which lets users quickly wake up the Iconia Tab 8 with a touch gesture. The Acer Iconia Tab 8 keeps users connected to Wi-Fi networks with 802.11a/b/g/n wireless support and MIMO technology. Users can enjoy up to 7.5 hours battery life when viewing video.

The Acer Iconia Tab 8 can be integrated with other Acer PCs through Build Your Own Cloud (BYOC). BYOC enables users to build their own cloud on their devices, such as music, photos and other types of content on a platform with convenient access to their information and content anytime, anywhere.

The Acer Iconia Tab 8 will be available starting in Q3 2014. The company did not provide priicing details.

Acer has also made another big push into the smartphone market, and unveiled four new models under its "Liquid" brand that will arrive in the third quarter.

Among them is the Acer Liquid X1, a 5.7-inch smartphone that packs a lot of power into its 160 g form factor including an 1.7 GHz Octa-core processor from Taiwan?s MediaTek, quad-core graphics processor, 2 GB RAM and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and LTE Category 4 Standard connectivity.

The Liquid X1 comes with both a 2 megapixel wide-angle front camera and 13 megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and 0.3 second focus capability. With Free Focus, users do not need to worry about focusing and can let the Liquid X1 do all the work. Also, with Bright Magic users are no longer limited by dimly lit environments; with image processing low light photos are captured with high brightness. With Motion Tracking users can also capture moving objects without fear of blurring and snap 'Selfies' with the wide-angle front camera.

Other features include Acer Zoom Fit, which adjusts the user interface to just 4-inches when operating the device with one hand is required. In addition it also comes built with the AcerRAPID design on the back which allows users to quickly launch the camera, pick up phone calls or their favorite apps with the touch of a finger. With AcerFLOAT user interface, app windows can stay open, so users can multitask without having to back out of one app to work on another. The press of the multi-task key brings up the Float Apps where opened apps on a translucent screen float over the function being used.

The Acer Liquid X1 is equipped with a MicroSD card slot that allows for extended storage and can be integrated with other Acer PCs through Build Your Own Cloud (BYOC).

The Acer Liquid X1 will be available starting in Q3 2014.

On Friday, the PC maker also announced the Liquid E700, the Liquid E600 along with the budget-friendly Liquid Z200 smartphones.

Both the Liquid E700 and E600 devices feature 5-inch IPS, Zero Air Gap screens. In the E700?s case, Acer built the device with a large 3500 mAh battery, and the ability to hold three SIM cards.

The E700 has a waistline of 9.9 mm and total weight of 155g. It is powered by a quad-core processor backed up with 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of flash memory.

The Liquid E700 also comes with AcerRAPID and a LED-front flash for great selfies, along with the Acer LiveScreen for collaborative work and personal content sharing.

It also comes with Android 4.4 (KitKat), a quad-core processor, 4 GB of internal storage and MicroSD card for expandable storage.

The Acer Liquid E600 is poered by a quad-core processor, supports LTE Category 4 networks and has an 8 megapixel main camera with f/2.0 aperture and AcerRAPID design.

The Liquid E600 also comes with Acer SnapNote, which allows users to capture stage presentations with automatic angle correction and PDF/PPT conversion. In addition it comes with AcerFLOAT user interface.

The Acer Liquid E700 and E600 will be available starting in Q3 2014.

The fourth phone Acer unveiled is a budget Android handset called the Liquid Z200 that?s meant for first-time smartphone users. The device comes with four preset profiles, including one targeted at younger users and another for the elderly. The profiles offer a simpler layout and streamlined features for quick access to phone calls and text messaging.

In terms of specs, the Z200 has a 4-inch screen at a 800 by 480 resolution. Under the hood is a dual-core 1.0 GHz MediaTek processor, with 4GB of storage and 512MB of RAM. A 2-megapixel camera is located in the back, and the phone has a 1300 mAh battery.

It will also be start shipping in Q3 2014.

Last but not least, Acer debuts the Acer Liquid Leap at Computex as its first wearable device. The touch-screen smartband with fitness tracking, phone and SMS notification, and music control will be sold together with the Acer Liquid Jade smartphone in selected markets.

Running on Android 4.4, the Acer Liquid Jade smartphone has a 5-inch HD screen with IPS, Zero Air Gap technologies and Gorilla Glass 3 ptrotection. It is equipped with a 13 MP main camera with 0.3 second focus and F1.8 aperture. It measures 63 cc in volume and is 7.5 mm thin.

The smallest touch device by Acer, the Liquid Leap has an 1-inch touch screen nestled in a rubber wristband. It tracks users' fitness including steps, running distance, calories burned, and sleeping cycle. It's on 24/7 and features incoming call and SMS notificationl. The music control function lets users access the music library on their smartphone, and play, pause, switch to previous or next songs.

The Liquid Leap comes in a variety of colors, up to 7 days of battery life, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and supports waterproof IPX7 standard.

The Acer Liquid Jade and Liquid Leap start shipping from Q3 2014.
