Marantz Japan starts direct sales of PC peripherals
Marantz Japan, which produces and sells sound appliances, said it has started selling PC peripherals such as LCDs and CD-R/RW drives. The firm already started sales and order acceptances on Sept. 11 on its Web site eStore@marantz. It does not plan to sell the products at retail stores. It aims to accomplish sales of more than 1 billion yen in 2002. (119.34 yen = US$1)
The initial peripherals being sold on the Web site are two LCD models -- the 15-in. "MZ-M5015D" (59,800 yen) and the 17-in. "MZ-M7017D" (89,800 yen), in addition to the CD-R/RW drive "MZ-R5008A" that is to be built into a PC (19,800 yen). Marants Japan also is selling its new CD player/speaker "ED-5" system with a design similar to a gramophone for 39,800 yen.
