Pioneer Launches The Eco-friendly BDR-XD05J2 BD Burner
Pioneer will release later this month in Japan the portable BDR-XD05J2 Blu-ray disc burner, which comes with an "Intelligent Eco Mode" to consume low power in standby mode. The portable drive weighs just 230g and has a clam shell design, with the disc tray to be positioned on the top side of it. It comes with a USB 3.0 interface and consumes about 40% less power compared to the company's previous model, the "BDR-XD05J". That is achieved through an algorithm that intelligently sets the drive into a standby mode immediately after the inserted disc has stoppe spinning.
In addition, the optimized algorithm verifies the recorded data on the disc in real time, shortenning the recording time.
Other features include Pioneer's PURE READ2 technology for better reading of scratched audio discs and a silent mode for quiet playback of movies.
The BDR-XD05J2 burns BD-Rs (SL/DL) at 6x, BDXL at 4x, DVD recordables at 8x and CD-R s at 24X.
It will retail in Japan later this month for about 13,000 Yen ($120) bundled with PowerDVD 12, PowerDirector 10 LE and Power2Go 8 for PureRead. Supported operating systems include Windows XP / Vista / 7/8 / 8.1.
