Jolla Tablet Returns to Indiegogo With A 64GB Version

Jolla Tablet Returns to Indiegogo With A 64GB Version

PC components Jan 30,2015 0

Finnish mobile startup Jolla has announced a fresh crowdfunding campaign, returning to Indiegogo to offer a new 64GB version of its Sailfish OS tablet. Jolla initially took to Indiegogo earlier this year, seeking funds to allow it to build its first tablet. The company went on to raise $300,000 over its original $1.5m target, enabling it to start manufacturing the 32GB slate and hitting its stretch goal of offering the device with microSD card support up to 128GB.

You now have the opportunity to contribute for the Jolla Tablet and secure your place among the first to receive the unique Sailfish OS Intel-powered tablet. In this second phase of the campaign the Jolla Tablet price ($219/$249) is lower than what the expected retail price will be later this year ($249/$299).

By contributing now you’ll receive the Jolla Tablet in the second quarter this year, right after the first contributors.

Jolla has also announced hardware upgrades for the tablets: a slightly larger battery, up from 4300mAh to 4450mAh; a fully laminated display; and the inclusion of gyroscope and compass sensors. However, Jolla has scrapped the proximity sensor it had previously promised to include.

For everyone else, there's a $449 combo deal that includes the 64GB tablet and the Jolla smartphone or a $419 deal for both the phone and the 32GB tablet. The combined packages are only available in the EU, Norway, and Switzerland, while the tablet can also be bought individually in Australia and Asia.
