CMC Magnetics Says Disc Production Capacity Booked For 2016
As many optical disc makers have already been forced out of the market, Taiwanese optical disc maker CMC Magnetics seems to benefit and sees strong orders from clients for 2016. The company's chairman Robert Wong expects CMC's sales in 2016 to be better than 2015 and by 2017, he says the company will achieve a break-even operations. CMC has hiked quotes by 5-10% for orders in the second quarter.
On the other hand, CMC is suffering loses caused by its recent investments in the solar business. The company has already exited the solar market and expects its financial results to be freed from losses in 2017.
At Computex 2016, CMC also showcased a series of optical disc products including an archive-level Blu-ray disc product line, which the company is pushing into the enterprise market.
Last year, Japanese optical disc manufacturer Taiyo licensed their technology know how, patents, Media IDs, and trademarks to CMC Magnetics.
