Samsung Display to Break Ground for New OLED Plant
Samsung Display, the world's No. 1 mobile OLED maker, is set to break ground for its new OLED plant, in which the company invsted a total of 8 trillion won (US $7.05600 billion).
The new flexible OLED plant is scheduled to start mass-producing 60,000 sheets of 6G OLED on a monthly basis from 2019.
Earlier this month, the Asan city government in South Chungcheong province has received Samsung Display's application to get the approval for the construction of the new plant. A decision by the local government is expect in early July.
Samsung Display has supplied OLED screens for its sibling Samsung Electronics and other top handset makers. It is the sole panel OLED screen supplier for Apple's upcoming iPhone.
