Xiaomi has announced the Mi Max 3, smartphone featuring a 6.9-inch screen in an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The device is not "borderless", but both the top and bottom bezels are very thin in relation to the vast expanse of the screen. The resolution is 1080p.

Powering the device is a 5,500mAh battery, which Xiaomi has managed to cram into a 7mm-thick chassis. The battery supports QC 3.0. The company says the phone can be charged to 71 percent in one hour. Other specs include a 12-megapixel plus 5-megapixel dual-camera system (F1.9 aperture, LED flash, Dual speed focus, supports AI scene recognition and portrait mode), a Snapdragon 636 processor, up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

The Mi Max 3 starts at 1,699 yuan (~$250) for a model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It goes on sale in China tomorrow.
