Galaxy S10 Ultrasonic Fingerprint Reader Doesn't Work With Screen Protectors: report
Samsung’s crucial 10th-anniversary Galaxy S10 range are on the way but an accessoty maker claims that the new smartphones have a flaw.
Texas accessory maker ArmadilloTek says that the cutting-edge ultrasonic fingerprint reader which is built into the displays of the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus and 5G Galaxy S10 doesn’t work with screen protectors.
“We have tested our cases on real GalaxyS10 phones. The in-screen fingerprint does not support [a] screen protector,” ArmadilloTek explained. The company confirmed its premium protective Vanguard cases for the Galaxy S10 will be the only version to ship with the screen-protector removed.
Screen protectors or cases are not used by everyyone though, but given Samsung’s steep price rises across the Galaxy S10 line-up, not having the option could be a deal breaker for some people.
Ultrasonic sensors are faster and more secure than any previous fingerprint technology and Apple’s Face ID facial unlock system.
Samsung did not provide any comment.
The date of the official release of the Samsung Galaxy S10 is February 20, in another "Unpacked" press event for the South Korean giant.
