The all-new Marantz NR1200, a new full-width, all-in-one, network receiver that has just about everything on board.

The Marantz NR1200 has been built from the ground up as a high-performance, two-channel receiver. At the heart of the NR1200 there beats a newly designed, high-current, 75W per channel amplifier into 8Ω, and it’s capable of driving almost any type of loudspeaker. There are two sets of speaker outputs labeled as Zone A and Zone B.

The NR1200 has symmetrical left and right power amplifier circuits that are completely separate but with a shared power supply that has independent windings for each of the unit’s critical functions. This means the power transformer is wired independently from the circuits for the amplifier, preamplifier, wireless module, and front display.

Additionally, the stereo receiver features two separate DACs per channel, which Marantz claims increases the dynamic range of the audio and improves the signal-to-noise ratio, delivering a clearer sound from sources that have a very low signal resolution.

With HEOS multi-room audio built-in, users can listen to their music from Spotify (Free and Premium), Amazon Music, Tidal, TuneIn Internet Radio and more, or else they can use the unit to access locally stored music libraries via the HEOS App. The NR1200 can also deliver music to any room throughout the home that has a HEOS-capable speaker, system or component. Users can use HEOS to play the same song in every room or select a different song for each connected room. Content can be streamed from a smartphone, tablet or computer via Bluetooth or Apple AirPlay 2.

Digital radio has also been incorporated into the Marantz NR1200’s features thanks to a built-in DAB+ tuner along with a conventional FM tuner. There is also adedicated phono input for hooking up a turntable. Marantz claims its proprietary HDAM phono stage can outperform cheaper op-amp solutions, delivering both clarity and detail.

The NR1200 boasts no fewer than five HDMI inputs for connecting Blu-ray players, games consoles, TVs or set-top boxes. All five of the inputs support the latest standards, including HDCP 2.3, 4K Ultra HD 60Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, HLG, High Dynamic Range (HDR10), 21:9 video, 3D and BT.2020 pass-through. There’s also support on one HDMI input for ARC (Audio Return Channel), which supports the transmission of audio from a TV via a single HDMI cable, simplifying overall setup. The NR1200 can automatically down-mix all surround sound formats to playback of any movie soundtrack.

For users who enjoy giving orders, the Marantz NR1200 also provides voice control with the likes of Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri. Users can issue verbal commands to initiate music playback, turn the volume up or down, skip to the next track, select inputs and much more.

After a firmware update at the end of 2019, users will also be able to wirelessly connect their Bluetooth headphones with the receiver, to enjoy private listening without the limitation of a cable.

The new Marantz NR1200 Receiver will be available in September at authorized Marantz retailers in both black or silver-gold finishes for £599/$549/€649. The US Model will have AM/FM tuner instead of DAB+/FM.
