Japanese A.L.I. Technologies Inc has developed "Speeder," a motorbike-like floating vehicle, which will appear at next month's Tokyo Motor Show.

The body of the hovering vehicle is made out of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) in order to be lightweight enough.

The Speeder is actually a VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) vehicle that travels several tens of centimeters above the ground. Set for mass production in the second half of 2021, it is equipped with two engines in the front and rear parts, and each of them rotates a propeller to generate a propelling force downward. To move forward and make a turn, two small propellers on the right and left sides are used.

The Speeder is expected to be used for lifesaving at the time of disaster, in deserts and swamps and on the sea.
