Plasmon, the market leader for professional optical archival solutions, announced today that their new Enterprise D-Series family of DVD Libraries has begun shipping. The Enterprise D-Series Libraries are specifically designed to meet the high capacity and robust automation requirements demanded by enterprise class environments. "DVD has become the storage technology of choice for many cost conscious enterprise environments requiring affordable, near-line storage for file based access. Plasmon has already delivered a large number of Enterprise D libraries and a custom designed software connectivity solution into one Medical partner for PACs and Cardiology applications. More Enterprise D solutions are also being quoted for a number of imaging and prepress projects." said Stewart Vane-Tempest, DVD Product Director for Plasmon Europe. "Both DVD-RAM and DVD-R is supported within the same unit, providing flexibility for individual customer data requirements. The new Enterprise D-Series scales from 8TB to over 20TB with simple field upgrades allowing customers to grow their storage as needed and to maximize their return on investment."

Plasmon’s Enterprise D-Series are among the largest DVD libraries in the world and are available in multiple configurations. Aggressively priced, enterprise level solutions start at around $27,000 which includes drives, LVD SCSI and double sided media management that provides unparalleled cost per GB value.

By leveraging this value with Plasmon’s world-class automation and service, we’re providing a truly cost-effective solution for enterprise class requirements," said Michael Brooks, Director of Strategic Alliances for Plasmon, Inc. "As a result, we’ve seen a significant response from partners, Independent Software Vendors (ISV), resellers and end-users alike, to the introduction of the Enterprise D-Series Family."

Major ISVs and key partners providing support for the new Enterprise D-Series libraries include ADIC’s AMASS, K-PAR’s Archimedia, KOM Networks' KOMWORX, Legato Systems’ ArchiveXtender and DiskXtender, Pegasus’ InveStore, PoINT Software’s Jukebox Manager, QStar’s HSM/Data Director and SevenTen Storage StorFirst. Plasmon’s own Diamond storage management software also provides full support for the Enterprise D product family on Windows NT and 2000.
