CES: Samsung Teases With Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 SSD

CES: Samsung Teases With Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 SSD

PC components Jan 8,2020 0

At CES 2020, Samsung has on display their next flagship consumer SSD, the 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD.

Samsung's first consumer SSD to support PCIe 4.0 is listed as offering a sequential reads of 6500 MB/s and writes of 5000 MB/s. The available capacities will range from 250GB to 1TB, which suggests that the new SSD is still using 2-bit MLC for the PRO line rather than switching to 3-bit TLC NAND flash.

Overall, the PCIe 4.0 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD should be more power efficient than the 980 PRO PCIe 3.0 SSD (consumes more power but offers a greater performance)

Samsung's sixth-generation V-NAND, which uses 128 layers.

Not any other information is available.

We are waiting for more information from Samsung.
