Introduction
Flawless playback and interchange are important for the success of the DVD+R/+RW system in the CE world: we expect DVD+R/+RW discs, that are recorded on DVD+RW recorders, can be played correctly on DVD video players and recorded on other DVD+RW Recorders. But correct playback and recording is only ensured if recorders write discs that are compliant with the DVD+R/RW Video specifications. To check the compliance with the specifications, the DVD+RW Video Format Compliance test is designed.
DVD+RW Video Format Compliance test
The purpose of the test is to check a minimum level of compliance of a recorder or application to the DVD+R/+RW Video specifications. The test is intended for:
DVD+R/+RW CE recorders
DVD+R/+RW Video authoring applications
In the test, five discs are created using the recorder or application. This includes recordings at various quality levels, overwriting, deleting, and editing of recordings, as well as other functions. The playback of the discs is tested, and the video format is checked using the DVD+RW Video Format Compliance Verifier. If the tests are passed successfully, the manufacturer can apply for listing the product in the "checked products" database.
