Taking a page from the RIAA's playbook, the MPAA has fired off a wave of lawsuits against alleged movie swappers.

One of the lawsuits apparently names several defendants who were only sharing one movie, so the MPAA isn't only going after high volume pirates. The MPAA isn't saying how many individuals were targeted in this first round of lawsuits, but indicates that more will follow if the first wave doesn't curb peer-to-peer movie piracy. Given how little success the RIAA has had deterring song swapping with legal action, more MPAA lawsuits seem inevitable.
