CyberLink Licenses InterActual Player Engine
InterActual announced that CyberLink has licensed the InterActual Player software development kit (SDK) for integration into its PowerDVD product line.
The SDK will allow CyberLink to add native playback of InterActual-enabled titles within PowerDVD, thereby providing its customers with convenient access to thousands of DVD titles packed with exciting bonus features designed for the PC.
InterActual is recognized by Hollywood's top motion picture studios as providing proven technology for seamlessly connecting DVD-Video content with both web- and high-end ROM-based high-value features such as downloadable commentaries, scene medleys, and image galleries accessible with a DVD-enabled PC. Today, the InterActual Player can be found on hundreds of millions of DVDs, including blockbuster releases such as New Line Cinema's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and "Elf," Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean," and Warner Bros.' "The Matrix" series and "Harry Potter" titles. InterActual-enabled titles are consistently rated in the top 20 best-selling DVDs year-after-year.
"CyberLink has always provided users with the highest quality and most compelling DVD playback experience," said Michael Demeyer, vice president of marketing and sales at CyberLink Corp. "Adding support for InterActual content to the list of advanced features in our DVD player products is a great way to further enhance that experience."
"We're delighted that CyberLink has chosen the InterActual Player SDK to enhance its highly regarded PowerDVD application," said Clint Ludeman, vice president of operations at InterActual. "With the addition of CyberLink's PowerDVD integration, the InterActual Player engine has become a ubiquitous platform for Hollywood studios to provide the very best entertainment value to millions of movie enthusiasts everywhere."
CyberLink plans to make the InterActual-enabled version of its PowerDVD software available in the first half of 2005, and users of earlier versions of PowerDVD will be offered special upgrade pricing.
