Facebook is Reviving 'The Real World' Series
Facebook said Wednesday that the iconic MTV reality series "The Real World" will return as three interactive series on Facebook in the United States, Mexico and Thailand early next year.
The series, which ran for 32 seasons between 1992 and 2017, will be available on the new Facebook Watch platform and will include interactive elements that let viewers shape the show. A new service called "Watch Party" allows people to watch and comment all at the same time, and has already been used on celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's "Veggie Challenge".
Facebook sees reality TV as its a new weapon for web supremacy, as the company is investing more to get its 2 billion users to spend more time on Facebook by watching professionally produced content.
Facebook Watch, which began to be rolled out in the US last year, is now available across the world.
