CMC Magnetics on June 26 announced it received class-A verification for its 1x HD-DVD-R SL (high-definition DVD-R single-sided single-layer) discs with 15GB storage capacity from the DVD Forum last week. Another major Taiwanese media manufacturer, Ritek, has obtained the same level of verification in late May of this year. Class-A verification indicates that a product meets the minimum specifications laid out by the DVD Forum.

CMC and Ritek have started shipments of 1x HD-DVD-R SL discs in small volumes this month, according to the two companies.
