Crucial T500 2TB NVME
3. Conclusion
The Crucial Τ500 2TB NVME SSD is a new proposal for the PCIe Gen4 SSD drives with a new Phison E25 controller and new Micron's 232L 3D TLC NAND chipsets that promise up to 7.4GB/sec reading/writing speeds. The T500 series comes either with or without a passive heatsink, depending operation environment (PC or PS5) and users have to freedom to choose which one better fits their needs. The drive also comes with 2GB of Micron's LPDDR4 memory on board to help with reading/writing and we found that indeed helped, since we didn't notice any major slowdown during long writing sessions.
The drive is advertised as PS5 compatible and it is, due to its low-height passive heatsink. For sure it will be useful to expand your system's internal storage capacity. The drive is armed with 5 years of warranty directly from Crucial (or 1200TBW of data written). For higher performance, Crucial also offers via its Storage Executive Software the "Momentum Cache”, which is an essential memory cache application for boosting performance and reducing the wear of the installed NVME. Compared with the non-heatsink version, the Crucial charges $23 more for the passive heatsink, so we feel that PC users should choose the non-heatsink version. As for performance numbers, we did reach the promised reading/writing and for sure this drive won't slow down, thanks to the Phison E25 chipset and the onboard LPDDR4 memory.
Overall, the Crucial T500 2TB NMVE SSD is an excellent product that will boost your creativity and the current prices are very low, compared with other similar 2TB Gen4 products. Hurry up to buy this drive and for sure you won't be disappointed.
