Google TV Updated With Neflix, Dual View And New Movie Features
Google today starts pushing out its first Google TV software update. In addition to fixing some bugs, there are four significant improvements to the platform.
The first Google TV device went on sale two months ago. Google TV comes with free, automatic "over-the-air" software updates that give users the newest features and content as they are released.
The latest software update offer users access to Netflix catalogs. Google has partnered up with Netflix to upgrade the app so that users can search, browse and watch any movie or show that is in the Netflix streaming catalog. Users can even add these titles to their DVD queue if they want them mailed to them. The new Netflix app will also give users personalized recommendations based on what users have watched before.
Google TV also brings the TV and web together so users can watch TV shows and browse websites at the same time. The feature has been enhanced and allows users to to re-size and move the window.
Starting today users can also download the Google TV Remote app in Android Market. Apart from the standard TV remote options like changing channels or accessing a DVR, users can now interact with their TV in ways they never have before. For instance, the integrated voice search allows users to find their favorite shows and movies just by speaking into their phone. Or, users can go from small screen to big screen by sharing videos and websites directly from their phone to your TV.
Google TV now has a movie results page that shows users all films associated with a title they search for, so they can quickly watch what they want, wherever it?s available -- ranging from sources like live TV, Netflix, and Amazon Video on Demand. A can quick summary, photos, and the cast list are also provided.
Google TV users will start to see these updates roll out to their devices throughout the week. The Google TV Remote app is available today but all features may not work until the Google Tv device device has received the update.
