HTC is making a blockchain phone dubbed "Exodus", a privacy-focused Android device designed to specialize in blockchain as well as decentralized applications.

With the new device, HTC, which has shipped over 100 million phones, believes they can help reshape the internet. The company has not provided many details about the phone. However, it will be based on
"trusted Hardware," will work with multiple protocols in order to maintain interoperability between blockchains, and will feature a universal wallet supporting Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dfinity, Lightning Networks plus other cryptocurrency protocols.

HTC said that every phone will act as a node, and wants to double and triple the number of nodes of Ethereum and Bitcoin, while delivering decentralized applications (DApp) to more consumers.

Each users identity and data will be held on the phone, rather in a centralized cloud.

HTC is also reportedly considering allowing people to purchase the Exodus phone with cryptocurrency.

No price has been set yet for the phone.

HTC Vive founder Phil Chen will be heading all blockchain initiatives.

HTC's Exodus might be the world's second blockchain-powered phone. The first one, created by Sirin Labs, called Finney, is a $1,000 phone that lets people store and use digital currencies while skipping transaction fees.
