Both DVR-3540LE (NEC ND-3540A) and DVR-4167LE (LG GSA-4167B) will be available in the Japanese market by the end of the month. The DVR-4167LE is based on the GSA-4167B ATAPI burner made by Hitachi-LG. The drive supports 16x recording for DVD+R/-R, 6x for DVD-R DL, 4x for DVD-R DL and 5x for DVD-RAM (non-cartridged).



The second drive, codenamed DVR-3540LE, adopts the same technology found in the NEC ND-3540A DVD burner, and offers 8x write for DVD+R DL, 6x for DVD-R DL, 16x for DVD±R, 8x for DVD+RW and 6x for DVD-RW.

Both retail packages will include CD/DVD burning software by BHA and Ulead.
