KIOXIA unveils SSDs with heatsink for gamers

KIOXIA unveils SSDs with heatsink for gamers

PC components Jun 4,2024 0

KIOXIA Europe, a world leader in memory solutions, today announced KIOXIA's first personal SSDs to feature a heatsink for enhanced thermal dissipation. Designed specifically for PC and PlayStation 5 with an M.2 connector[1], the KIOXIA EXCERIA with Heatsink SSD Series can be easily installed as-is[2], available in capacities of 1024GB, 2048GB, 4096GB and offers advanced heat dissipation capabilities for gaming systems that need extra cooling during intense gaming sessions.

With a next generation PCIe 4.0 interface, the KIOXIA EXCERIA with Heatsink SSD Series provides a comfortable gaming experience. Levels load quicker with up to 6200 MB/s sequential read performance and download new titles faster with up to 4900 MB/s* of sequential write performance. (*1024GB and 2048GB)

"We're excited to provide gamers with a high-performance SSD featuring an integrated heatsink", states Jamie Stitt, General Manager B2C Sales & Marketing, KIOXIA Europe GmbH. "This allows players to fully maximize their PC's or PlayStation 5's capabilities while ensuring their system stay cool and maintains energy efficiency".

The KIOXIA EXCERIA with Heatsink SSD Series is expected to be available in in the second half of 2024.

Notes
[1] Compatibility confirmed by KIOXIA's own testing in accordance with the PS5 manufacturer's technical requirements. Tested system software version: 23.02-08.40.00.05-00.00.00.0.1, as of June 2024.
[2] With the heatsink, the product exceeds standard M.2 dimensions. Dimensions of this product are 80.65 (L) x 24.70 (W) x 11.10 (H) mm (max). For more detailed product information, please visit our product page.

Definition of capacity: KIOXIA defines a megabyte (MB) as 1,000,000 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) as 1,000,000,000 bytes and a terabyte (TB) as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system, such as Microsoft Operating System and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.

The following trademarks, service and/or company names – PCIe, PCI-SIG – are not applied, registered, created and/or owned by KIOXIA Europe GmbH or by affiliated KIOXIA group companies. However, they may be applied, registered, created and/or owned by third parties in various jurisdictions and, therefore, protected against unauthorised use. All other company names, product names and service names may be trademarks of their respective companies.

The line-up of personal products varies by country and region.
