LG G6 Smartphone To Be Launched In The 10th of March
LG Electronics will officially launch its new flasgship G6 smartphone to South Korea in March 10th, with another more affordable X300 smartphone to follow in the March 18th.
This is the first time LG Electronics decides to releasing its new flagship device earlier than Samsung, which plans to release the Galaxy S8 series during first half of the calendar year.
This strategy is seen as an attempt by LG Electronics' MC Business Headquarters, which is going through a slump, to make a turnaround. President Cho Jun-ho of MC Business Headquarters is putting all of company's efforts into having a successful year in Smartphone business.
LG will unveil the G6 for the first time at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona, Spain, on February 26th.
According to sources in S. Korea, the specifications of the affodable 'X300' are mostly identical to those of the K8 model, which was introduced at CES 2017, although the X300 will be thinner at 7.9mm. LG Electronics has also upgraded its RAM from 1.5GB to 2GB.
As for the G6, which is expected to be sold at 700,000 KRW ($583) - 800,000 KRW ($666), it will be equipped with 5.7-inch QHD+ (1440x2880) display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Processor. It will not have the modularized design met in the previous G5 model, but it will be equipped with an all-in-one battery, it will be both waterproof and dustproof, and will support wireless charging. The smartphone will also have large glass surfaces, as LG is abandoning the full-metal design -- a concept that will be also followed by Apple and Samsung. Finally, the G6 will offer an upgraded digital assistant called "Q Voice."
