Marvel Launches Quad-Core 64-bit ARMADA Mobile PXA1908 Platform, Octa-Core 64-bit Mobile SoC

Marvell today announced the quad-core 64-bit ARMADA Mobile PXA1908 platform targetting 5-mode 4G LTE worldwide mass market along with the octa-core 64-bit 5-mode 4G LTE ARMADA Mobile PXA1936 system-on-chip (SoC) for smartphones and tablets. The quad-core 64-bit ARMADA Mobile PXA1908 mobile processor features ARM Cortex A53, power management, integrated location and sensor technology, and 5-mode 4G LTE modem technology. It maintains complete software compatibility with the octa-core ARMADA Mobile PXA1936, enabling OEMs and ODMs to launch octa-core mobile phones. The ARMADA mobile PXA1908 supports all the popular cellular communications including: TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and GSM.

Smartphone vendors are expected to begin shipping products powered by Marvell’s PXA1908 globally in early 2015.

Key features of the Marvell ARMADA Mobile PXA1908 include:

  • Quad-core Cortex A53, up to 1.2GHz clock speed
  • Improved image processing to support 8MP to 13MP camera
  • Advanced power management
  • Supports 720p display
  • DSDS software for 5-mode modem

The octa-core 64-bit 5-mode 4G LTE ARMADA Mobile PXA1936 system-on-chip (SoC) features 8Χ ARM Cortex A53, advanced graphics and security functions, high performance image processing, and sensor fusion capabilities. It Offer software compatibility with the PXA1908 SoC and supports TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and GSM.

The processor will soon be available for the smartphone and tablet market and is expected to ship in devices by early 2015.

Key features of the Marvell ARMADA Mobile PXA1936 include:

  • Octa-core Cortex A53, up to 1.5GHz clock speed
  • Supports 1080p display, and video encoding and decoding
  • Improved image processor to support 13 to 16MP camera
  • Advanced power management and audio codec for power efficiency and audio performance
  • Enhanced security processor
  • Integrated location and sensor hub functionalities for better usability
  • DSDS software for 5-mode modem
