Meet the Nokia 515
Today Nokia introduced the Nokia 515, a classic mobile phone made with premium materials and designed for use as your main device or as a companion to your smartphone.
The phone's main body is constructed from a single piece of anodised, sandblasted aluminium, while Gorilla Glass 2 protects the curved display, which is polarised for use in sunlight. The result is a lightweight, 11mm-thin body.
On the back, there is a 5-megapixel camera with some smart features. The voice-guided self-portrait lets you take pictures of yourself even though you can't see the screen. Sequential shots allow you to take the perfect group shot while Panorama can take in 100-degrees of the scene around you. An LED flash allows for pictures indoors.
The Nokia 515 offers a 3.5G HSDPA internet connection. You can even use the phone as a 3G modem, connected to your laptop with a USB cable.
The Mail for Exchange app allows access to corporate email and will keep your contacts and calendar synchronised. The Nokia Xpress Browser loads web pages much faster than normal, using compression so it also requires less data to show them. On the social side, Facebook, Twitter and Nimbuzz are preloaded, while other apps are available for download from the Nokia Store.
The Nokia 515 is available in black and white, and in single and Easy Swap Dual SIM variants. Nokia's Easy Swap technology allows you to swiftly change SIM cards without turning off the phone on the Dual SIM model. The phone can take advantage of HD-voice services (where available), for clear calls even in noisy environments. The single-SIM model is capable of a standby battery life of up to 38 days.
The Nokia 515 will begin shipping in the third quarter of 2013. Before any local taxes or operator subsidies, it will be priced at around EUR 115.
