New Firmware for the Toshiba XA1 HD DVD Player
Toshiba Corporation released the fourth firmware upgrade for the HD-XA1 HD DVD player.
The Ver2.0 of the firmware adds support for play back of HD DVD-R video discs recorded in the VR mode, such as those created by the company's RD-A1 HD DVD/HDD recorder.
In addition, the update solves an audio issue reported with specific HD DVD titles.
Owners of a HD-XA1 HD DVD player in Japan can download the firmware directly from Toshiba's servers through internet (ethernet) communication function of the device. Alternatively, a fax should be sent to Toshiba including the serial number of the device. In less that 1 week, Toshiba sends back a CD-ROM with the new firmware.
