Oppo Reno Flagship Phone Comes With 10x Zoom Lens and a Pop-up Camera
Oppo's latest flagship phone, the Reno, comes with high-end specs, including options for a Snapdragon 855 processor, a 48-megapixel camera, and a 10x optical zoom lens.
The device comes with a pop-up selfie camera design to allow for a notchless screen. The revious Oppo Find X model raised the entire top panel of the phone whenever you needed to unlock it or take a selfie. But the Reno has a wedge-shaped part that houses the front-facing camera and accompanying flash. 3D Face ID-style unlocking is absent, but the Reno has an in-display fingerprint scanner instead.
The Reno comes in two versions: the Reno and the Reno 10x Zoom Edition.
The former has a 6.4-inch FHD+ OLED screen, a Snapdragon 710 processor, and a secondary ultrawide camera, while the latter has a 6.6-inch FHD+ display with a 93.1-percent screen-to-body ratio, a Snapdragon 855, as well as that 10x-zoom third camera.
This phone packs a 13-megapixel f/3.0 periscopic zoom camera along with an 8-megapixel f/2.2 super wide camera (120 degrees) and a 48-megapixel f/1.7 main camera (Sony IMX586 sensor). Together, these three rear cameras cover an equivalent focal length ranging from 16mm to 160mm, thus offering 10x hybrid zoom.
The 48-megapixel camera and the 13-megapixel periscopic camera have optical stabilization, and there's also laser autofocus on this side of the phone. The 10x Zoom Edition is capable of 4K 60fps video recording with hybrid stabilization, as well as 3D audio capture and audio zoom.
The pop-up camera wedge at the top for 16-megapixel f/2.0 selfies has a soft flash light.
The Reno Standard Edition features the same pop-up camera as well as the same 48-megapixel main camera, but the latter lacks optical stabilization. Gone are the super wide camera and periscopic camera, and these are replaced by a 5-megapixel depth camera to enable bokeh effects. Video recording is only up to 4K 30fps with electronic stabilization.
Both phones include NFC and VOOC 3.0 fast charging.
The standard Reno costs 2,999 yuan (~$450) for a 6GB of RAM/128GB of storage model, 3,299 yuan (~$490) for 6GB/256GB, and 3,599 yuan (~$540) for 8GB/256GB. The 10x Zoom Edition is priced higher across the board: 3,999 yuan (~$600) for 6GB/128GB, 4,499 yuan (~$670) for 6GB/256GB, and 4,799 yuan (~$710) for 8GB/256GB.
Pricing for India, Europe, and other markets is expected to be announced at a global launch event in Zurich on April 24th.
