Pioneer's New DVD Recorders Give New Found Freedom to Television Lovers

Advancements in DVD recording from Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. are making it easier than ever for consumers to record their favorite television programming directly to DVD. The new line of Pioneer DVD recorders introduced today at the Consumer Electronics Show combines hard drive technology with software and program guide upgrades to make the process of creating a DVD easy. The Pioneer DVR-533H and DVR-633H allow the viewer to find all of their favorite TV shows through the TV Guide onscreen program guide; store programming on a hard drive; burn to DVD; and create home movies on DVD through the DV camera input on the front panel.

Pioneers DVD recorders with hard drives offer the TV Guide on screen program guide, giving viewers TV listings for as many as eight days. The listings can be sorted by type of programming, title and genre.
Store on Hard Drive or Burn to DVD
Once the viewer knows what he or she wants to record, simple recording is available to the hard drive or straight to a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc. The DVR-533H has a 80GB hard drive and the DVR-633H is super-sized with a 160GB hard drive.

Create Home Movies
A simple DV terminal on the front panel of the DVR-533H and DVR-633H allows anyone to connect a digital camcorder directly to the DVD recorder to create a home movie on DVD. Simple editing features make it possible to cut out portions of the video, saving the best parts for the final DVD.
HELP
Much like a computer offers a one-touch Help button to answer basic user questions, Pioneer has created a Help menu on screen for easy set up and use of the DVD recorder. The Help button is directly on the remote control and offers information about what is currently scheduled for recording, how much space is available on the hard drive, and general operational instructions.
Even Simpler Options
For a complete DVD novice, the DVR-233-S also introduced today by Pioneer is an entry-level DVD recorder with basic recording and playback features. The DVR-233-S utilizes VCR Plus + and an advanced disc navigator to simplify the recording process. To ensure high quality recording and playback, the DVR-233-S offers a 10-bit/54MHz video digital to analog converter and Pioneers PureCinema progressive scan output.
When it comes time to play back the programming that has been recorded on any of these three DVD recorders, an on-screen menu shows thumbnails of each section of video to help locate the correct scene to play back. The skip feature allows the viewer to jump right past scary scenes in a movie or other content that they dont want to watch.
The Best of Both Worlds
Pioneers DVR-RT501 is a combination DVD recorder with VCR that makes the transfer of VHS tapes to long lasting DVD-R and DVD-RW discs simple. Consumers can record from VHS to DVD and vice versa with the touch of two buttons. Its a good transition product for someone who owns a lot of VHS tapes, but is beginning their collection of DVDs enabling the consumer to play tapes or DVD in a single product.
The Pioneer DVR-233-S, DVR-RT501, DVR-533H and DVR-633H will be available in April with a suggested price of $259, $399, $499 and $599 respectively.
