Plasmon announces Diamond storage management software; Transforms DVD/CD libraries into cost-effective virtual hard disk

General Interest Aug 6,2002 0

Plasmon, a leading manufacturer of automated data storage solutions, today announced its Diamond(TM) storage management software. Diamond transforms Plasmon D-Series DVD/CD Libraries into a cost-effective virtual hard drive, accessible via a drive letter and network share.Diamond storage management software is the perfect solution for application developers, system integrators and corporate users needing to easily, and cost-effectively, manage large archives of digital information. Application developers and system integrators can storage-enable their applications through Diamond's API, flexible web-based administration GUI or transparent drive letter/network share access. Corporate users with departmental to enterprise storage needs benefit from Diamond's powerful, yet easy-to-use web-based administrative interface. An organization with Plasmon Diamond and D-Series libraries in satellite office locations can easily administer the remote sites from a central location. Users read/write data to or from the library as a virtual hard disk via a drive letter or network share.

Plasmon D-Series Libraries automate DVD/CD storage technologies in capacities from .5TB to over 4TB, providing network users with virtual online access to valuable archived data within seconds.

"With the introduction of Diamond, Plasmon has simplified the purchase, configuration and technical support of virtual storage -- creating a scalable, single-vendor, storage solution," said Robert Clark, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Plasmon USA. "Diamond integrates seamlessly into existing applications such as document management, records and image archival for medical imaging/PACS, finance, banking, insurance claims processing, call center voice recording, and email archival."

Diamond is available for immediate delivery. Pricing starts at $2,995 for Diamond for a Plasmon D-120 Library -- no extra charge for additional drives or for double-sided media support. The first year maintenance is free, comprised of version upgrades and standard 9x5 technical support. The optional Offline Volume Management (OVM) module transparently manages media that has been physically removed from the library.
