Plextor announces the PleXWriter Premium

Plextor announces the PleXWriter Premium

General Interest Apr 14,2003 0

Plextor Europe announced today the latest CD-RW. The brand new PlexWriter Premium supports CD-R reading/writing at a speed of 52x, and rewrites at a top speed of 32x. The drive has an access time of less than 65 ms, an extensive 8MB buffer, and is equipped with the Buffer Underrun Proof technology to avoid this kind of error.

PlexWriter Premium offers the new “GigaRec” function, allowing storing up to 1.2 GB of data on a standard 99 minute CD (or up to 1 GB on an 80 minute CD), an increase in capacity of over 40%. With its “SecuRec” hardware password protection, you can protect all your data. To extend the working life of the drive and run the whole process really quietly, you can use “Silent Mode” to set the access times, read and write speed and the eject time yourself.

A “Q-Check” or quality control (C1/C2 error test, FE/TE test and Beta/Jitter test) before and after the burning process provides you with the necessary information about the quality of your CD. The PlexWriter Premium is available as an internal version (white or black) or as an external drive (black) with an E-IDE (ATAPI) and a USB 2.0 interface respectively. In accordance with tradition, the system is supplied in a total package including PlexTools Professional, Nero and InCD, a manual in 16 languages as well as a CD-R and a CD-RW disk.

“The PlexWriter Premium is the new flagship among CD-ReWriters. The drive actually surpasses every standard, has an unrivalled read, write and rewrite speed, an access time of less than 65 ms and many unique extra features. The system really does include everything that the professional or demanding home user needs to create professional multimedia CDs without a hitch, and at amazing speed”, says Patrick Peeters, Sales & Marketing Manager at Plextor Europe.

Super-fast optimum performance

In order to keep the writing process totally under control, the system uses the “PoweRec” technology, which determines the optimum speed depending on the quality of the CD-R used, and “VariRec” technology to improve sound recording. Furthermore, the PlexWriter Premium uses the “Mount Rainier” technology, which converts a CD into a universal storage disk.

The PlexWriter Premium will be available from May 2003 via Plextor sales channels, at a recommended retail price of 119 EUR* (excl. VAT) for the internal version and 199 EUR* (excl. VAT) for the external drive.
