Plextor enters DVD format with a new combo recorder "PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A"

General Interest Feb 19,2002 0

Plextor plans to ship a new combo DVD/CD-RW drive with the codename "PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A". This is the first Plextor drive that supports both CD and DVD formats, at least for the reading part. Today Plextor Europe announces officially the drive after our initial post 3 days ago :-) Plextor Europe, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of CD-ROM drives and CD-ReWritable drives, is proud to announce its first combo drive, the PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A. This PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A is ideal for users looking for a CD-RW drive, but who also want to play digital quality DVDs on their PC.

The PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A has an E-IDE (ATAPI) interface and a 2 MB Buffer and is capable of 20x Writing, 10x Rewriting, 40x Reading, 12x DVD Reading. The PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A has been designed with many features:

- Due to the use of a black tray, the C1 error rate is decreased as the black absorbs some of the OPU’s (Optical Power Unit) laser light which improves writing quality
- The optimised printed circuit board (PCB) reduces internal noise which improves the jitter and deviation levels, and as such produces higher quality results

- BURN-Proof, PoweRec-II and VariRec Technology

- High Quality Digital Audio extraction

- Easy Firmware upgrade through FlashROM

The PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A will be available from April 2002 in retail version.

The Retail version contains:

PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A, 1 CD-R media, 1 CD-R/W media, 1 E-IDE (ATAPI) cable, 1 Audio cable, Plextor Utility software (Plextools), CD Recording software Nero + InCD, DVD Play software PowerDVD and a 16-language manual.

The recommended end user price for this Retail version (excl. VAT) is: 229 EURO

This product is also covered by Plextor’s special “On-Site Collect&Return Service”, under which the end user, dealer or distributor can return the product free of charge in the event of a defect.
