Prodisc to set up new DVD disc factory in northern Taiwan
Prodisc signed an agreement to purchase 2.3 hectares of land in the Hwaya
Technology Park in Linkou, Taoyuan County for NT$730 million.
The company will establish a new factory dedicated to blank DVD disc production at
the site. Prodisc’s current domestic production base is located in Taipei County,
Taiwan.
First-phase development will be completed in August and planning for the second phase will begin at year-end, Prodisc chairman Lin Ming-Fa said.
Prodisc is expanding the monthly capacity of its existing DVD-R/+R disc production lines from 20 million discs last month to between 35 million and 38 million discs in late March and further to between 40 million and 45 million discs in the middle of this year, Lin added.
