Samsung Introduces New Smart TV Platform At CES

Samsung Introduces New Smart TV Platform At CES

Consumer Electronics Jan 4,2016 0

Samsung Electronics today unveiled a new Smart TV user experience which includes an enhanced Smart Hub user interface and new Samsung Smart Control remote. The world's largest TV producer plans to offset the effects of weak demand by emphasizing its management systems for platforms.

The new Smart Hub interface represents a shift away from multiple content sources and devices, to one integrated content and services platform. Consumers will now be able to switch between broadcast content, OTT content, as well as other connected devices, including video game consoles or Blu-ray players. With the improved interface, consumers can search through popular titles to find what they want to watch or play. This eliminates the barrier between sources and devices connected to a TV, allowing consumers to access what they really want to watch more easily. The Smart Hub interface can be also customized by arranging content and entertainment selections right on the home screen.

The Samsung Smart Control provides consumers the one tool they need to control their entire home entertainment system, eliminating the need for multiple remotes. With an average of three external devices connected to Smart TVs, the Smart Control remote is designed to consolidate multiple remote controls into one device. Built upon the Tizen platform, the new Smart Control remote provides quicker access to entertainment, thanks to its automatic source recognition. The Smart Control remote immediately recognizes set-top-boxes, OTT boxes, Blu-ray players, game consoles as well as other connected devices.

Rival LG Electronics, for its part, is also planning to showcase its latest television operating system (OS) at the upcoming fair, competing with its bitter rival's Smart Hub platform.
