Samsung Introduces Samsung Jet, New Omnia Smartphones
Samsung unveiled new phones on Monday (Samsung Jet, Omnia II, OmniaPRO series, OmniaLITE), just one day after rival Nokia annouced the 5530 Xpressmusic model. All new models offer features comparable to iPhone and Pre but at lower prices.

Samsung launched a new mass-market "Jet" model on Monday, which differs from some 150 phones Samsung launches per year with its full touch screen, a next-generation display and improved processor to deliver fast mobile Internet access.
Samsung Jet is a full touch mobile phone and includes multi-task manager and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
Samsung Jet boasts world firsts in both display technology and speed of performance. It comes with a 16M WVGA AMOLED display (3.1") that provides a resolution that is four times higher than a WQVGA screen. Its 800MHZ application processor promises to offer speed and performance, making Jet the fastest full touch handset on the market today, according to Samsung.
Samsung's latest TouchWiz 2.0 user interface includes new features such as motion UI, smart unlock and customizable widget screen.
Samsung's Dolfin Internet browser is designed to let users surf the net and access popular websites, especially social networking sites. The browser allows users to view up to five web pages simultaneously and bookmark their favourite websites as widgets on the phone's homepage. A built in ad-blocker, multiple downloading and background downloading feature, and multi-purpose address field, further enhance the experience while Dolfin's one finger zoom enables users to zoom in and out of web pages using only one hand.

Samsung also revamped in one go its smartphones portfolio, unveiling four new models to its Omnia range -- the Omnia II (I8000), the OmniaLITE (B7300) and two OmniaPRO models (OmniaPRO B7610, OmniaPRO B7320), all using Microsoft's Windows Mobile software.
The Omnia II is runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS and features a 3.7-inch AMOLED display with WVGA resolution. Omnia II's user interface has been customized to provide touch-optimized usability. Also, TouchWiz 2.0 User Interface and 3D effects make enjoying multimedia and multi tasking convenient and fun. According to Boston-based Strategy Analytic (SA), Samsung secured a 23.9 percent market share, selling 6.1 million touchscreen mobile phone units worldwide during the first quarter of this year.
LG took the No. 2 ranking with a 20.8 percent market share. It sold 5.3 million touch screen units worldwide.
Apple placed third with a 14.9 percent market share and sales of 3.8 million units. Nokia, the world's largest handset maker, was fourth with 11.4 percent and 2.9 million units.
The global market for high-end phones with touchscreens is expected to triple to 500 million units in 2012, compared with an anticipated 170 million units this year, according to SA.
