Samsung to Invest $2.64 Billion To Expand Its DRAM Production
Samsung Electronics will invest up to $2.64 billion (3 trillion KRW) to extend its 17 DRAM manufacturing Line, which is located in Hwasung.
Besides DRAMs, Samsung is also producing 3D NAND flash memory at 17 Line and is planning to mass-produce system semiconductors in the facility in the near future.
The plan is to eventually produce 10nm DRAMs in the specific facility, with mass production set to start in the second half of this year.
In the future, Samsung has also decided to construct a new factory at a parking lot next to 17 Line. This one will possibly be dedicated to production of 7nm system LSIs.
