Samsung SDi has developed what it claims to be the world's highest-capacity bater for curved, wearable devices. The company has developed a 210mAh battery designed for curved devices such as Samsung's Gear Fit series.

Seperately, Samsung SDI is considering is options in the plasma display panel (PDP) business.

PDP modules accounted for no less than one-third of the total sales of Samsung SDI last year. However, the industry is on the decline, despite the fact other players such as Hitachi, Pioneer, and Panasonic have exited the PDP business.

Samsung SDI is on the brink of restructuring through a merger with Cheil Industries.
