Samsung Unveils New Digital Cameras
Samsung today unveiled the TL110 and TL105 ulltr-slim series of digital cameras, the SL630 and the HZ35W model featuring a 15x optical zoom.
Ultra-Slim Series
At just 0.65 inches thin, the 14.2 megapixel TL110 and 12.2 megapixel TL105 are each equipped with a 2.7-inch LCD and feature a 5x optical zoom and a 4x optical zoom respectively.
Samsung's new models feature an improved 27mm wide-angle lens (for TL110) and 27.5mm wide-angle lens (for TL105) when compared to their predecessor, the TL100. The TL110 has a 5x optical zoom, which is paired with Dual Image Stabilization (IS) to help reduce image blur by combining both Optical and Digital Image stabilizers to produce sharp images. The TL105 offers an expanded 4x optical zoom and features Digital Image Stabilization.
New image effects available with the TL110 and TL105 include the Fisheye and the Lomo, letting users add a touch of creativity to their photos. Similar to other Samsung compact cameras, this duo offers a user-selectable Photo Styles including Normal, Soft, Vivid, Forest, Retro, Cool, Calm, Classic, Negative, Custom RGB and two new options: Sketch and DeFog Clear/Fog Lifting, which cuts through the haze to take clear photos.
The TL110 and TL105 are also able to record video at a resolution of 720p / 30fps, using H.264 compression. Additionally, the cameras offer Samsung's advanced scene recognition technology, Smart Auto (Still & Movie). Smart Auto has been upgraded from the TL100 as it can now be used with video as well as with still images. Similar to the way the technology analyzes the composition of an image when capturing digital stills, the technology will do the same for video, automatically choosing between one of four pre-programmed settings and selecting the setting that will yield the best footage with proper exposure and color balance.
Program mode allows the user to manually set options including ISO, white balance, metering mode, AF, and exposure compensation. Choosing a scene mode that best matches the shooting environment also provides users with some control but doesn?t require much effort since the camera automatically adjusts the settings for the selected mode. Available scene modes include Beauty Shot, Night, Frame Guide, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Text, Sunset, Dawn Backlight, Beach & Snow, and Fireworks.
The new SL630
Samsung also today extended its SL-Series of digital cameras with the introduction of the SL630. This 12.2 megapixel point-and-shoot offers a 28mm wide-angle, 5x optical zoom lens, Dual Image Stabilization, and Samsung?s full range of smart features.
The Samsung SL630 offers a 28mm wide-angle Samsung lens which provides consumers with a 5x optical zoom (28mm-140mm / 35mm equivalent).
Samsung?s Dual Image Stabilization (IS) technology, which gives users the ability to capture crystal-clear images by combining both Optical and Digital Image stabilizers to produce sharp images. The Optical IS intelligently compensates for hand trembling by shifting the lens in the opposite direction. When Optical IS isn?t quite enough, the Digital IS automatically takes over to ensure virtually blur-free images.
Samsung?s advanced scene recognition technology known as Smart Auto analyzes key elements of the composition of the image such as color, brightness, motion, and subject, and then selects the appropriate scene mode which will produce the best results possible.
The SL630 also features auto focusing options such as object tracking. Samsung?s object tracking enables users to select any object or area within the frame and automatically program the camera to lock and keep its focus on the subject even if it?s moving within the frame. In addition, the SL630 offers Samsung's Perfect Portrait System - a series of automatic technologies which take the guess work out of shooting portraits.
Samsung also offers standard definition video recording in the new SL630 (640x480 and recording at 30 frames-per-second).
15X Optical zoom for the HZ-Series
Samsung added two new models to its HZ-Series of digital cameras. The 12-megapixel HZ35W and HZ30W offer the same wide-angle 24mm Schneider lenses as their predecessors, the HZ15W and HZ10W, but extend the telephoto capability of the range from a 10x optical zoom to a 15x optical zoom. In addition, the HZ35W comes equipped with a super clear and 3.0" AMOLED display and built-in GPS technology for the automatic geo-tagging of images from anywhere in the world.
Both the HZ35W and the HZ30W offer a 24mm ultra wide angle lens, and 15x optical zoom. With such wide-angle and telephoto capabilities, users will have access to a wider shooting range from a shorter distance making it possible to capture landscapes, entire wedding parties, and skyscrapers from a greater distance. The cameras' Schneider KREUZNACH lenses are also paired with Dual Image Stabilization (IS), which allows users to capture clear images using both Optical and Digital Image stabilizers.
The HZ35W features a 3.0" AMOLED display and the HZ30W a 3.0" TFT LCD.
The HZ35W utilizes built-in GPS technology to pinpoint and store the exact location that the shots were taken. With the HZ35W, users can geo-tag digital images, recording the longitude and latitude of where in the world the photo was taken. The camera will display the name of the city, state, and country on its AMOLED screen. Thanks to its visual map-view feature, users can even check the photos' location on a map without having to upload the images to the Internet.
The HZ35W and the HZ30W record video at a resolution of 720p / 30fps. Samsung also incorporates H.264 compression and offers consumers true HDMI connectivity. Additionally, the cameras offer Samsung?s scene recognition technology, Smart Auto (Still & Movie). Smart Auto has been upgraded from the HZ15W and HZ10W, as it can now be used with video as well as with still images.
