Shuttle Launches the XZ890G2
Shuttle announced the availability of the XZ890G2, a compact small form factor system that delivers desktop-class computing performance within a 5-liter chassis. Powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 2 (Arrow Lake-S) processors and the Intel Z890 chipset, the XZ890G2 is engineered for professionals operating in space-constrained environments where high performance, reliability, and expansion flexibility cannot be compromised. The XZ890G2 represents a significant advancement in compact computing with its support for PCIe x8/x8 bifurcation via the Intel Z890 chipset. This technology splits a single PCIe x16 physical slot into two independent x8 connections, allowing two high-performance devices to operate simultaneously through a single slot. The result is a dramatic increase in expansion flexibility without the need for additional physical slots or a larger chassis footprint. Designed for professionals in surveillance, video production, digital signage, and AI edge computing, the XZ890G2 combines Intel's latest processor architecture with a comprehensive set of I/O options, including triple display output with 8K support, three M.2 NVMe storage slots, and dual Intel LAN connectivity.
"The XZ890G2 is built for professionals who need real workstation capability without the physical footprint. With the Intel Z890 chipset, PCIe Gen5 expansion, and Arrow Lake-S performance, we are delivering a system that meets the demands of modern professional deployments in any environment."
Processor and Platform
The XZ890G2 supports Intel Core Ultra Series 2 (Arrow Lake-S) processors featuring a hybrid architecture with up to 24 cores through a combination of Performance-cores and Efficiency-cores. Each processor includes a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) enabling on-device AI acceleration for edge computing and inference workloads. The 65W TDP design ensures sustained performance for continuous operation.
Memory and Storage
The system supports up to 96GB of DDR5-5600 memory via dual SO-DIMM slots using 2x48GB modules in a dual-channel configuration. Three M.2 2280 M-key slots provide flexible NVMe storage, including one PCIe Gen5 x4 slot for maximum sequential throughput. An additional M.2 2230 E-key slot supports wireless expansion modules, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The XZ890G2 is suited for a broad range of professional deployments, including surveillance control centers requiring multi-display output and continuous 24/7 operation, digital signage networks demanding reliable compact hardware, video production workflows requiring high-speed storage and GPU expansion, and AI edge computing systems benefiting from the integrated NPU and PCIe Gen5 bandwidth. Enterprise-grade features, including Wake-on-LAN, hardware monitoring, watchdog timer, auto power-on, and remote management support, make the XZ890G2 well-suited for managed commercial environments.
