For checking exactly what the DRU-710A reports, we used three different media, burned with other recorders. The three media were then measured with the well known AudioDev SA300 DVD CATS system at 1X.

The drive reports only PI/PIF errors, we will compare those measurements at various reading speeds:

• 3~8X CAV
• 2~6X CAV
• 4X CLV

Please note that the posted results are only valid for the specific tested DRU-710A drive. Using another drive can produce totally different results. Be aware!

#2nd Test Disc - PISum8/PIF Comparison - 8X Reading speed

Once again the PI/PIF error rate trend lines are similar to the SA300 and the values for the PI are almost the same.

6X and 8X revealed almost the same results.

The 4X speed reported an excellent writing quality which is far from the truth... The PI/PIF error rate trend lines are similar to the SA300.
