Verbatim to ring in the new year with multi-format DVD recorder

Verbatim to ring in the new year with multi-format DVD recorder

General Interest Nov 18,2002 0

Verbatim Corporation and Peripherals Group, Inc., the exclusive licensor of Verbatim® optical hardware products and subsidiary of CenDyne, Inc., today together announced that the new Verbatim Multi-Format DVD Recorder will be available to major retailers in North America in January 2003. The new Multi-Format DVD Recorder ends the debate on which DVD recording format to use, as it supports the four most popular DVD recordable standards, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW, as well as CD-R and CD-RW. "This is a turning-point for the DVD industry and for anyone that has postponed buying a DVD recorder," said Jim Hill, optical products manager, Peripherals Group, Inc. "The rapid adoption of DVD players and digital camcorders combined with improved recording software and PC power has made DVD recording the hot topic of 2002. However, many consumers have put off buying a DVD recorder because they were confused about the formats. Now that the Verbatim Multi-Format DVD recorder is here, there is no need to choose one format over another."

The new Verbatim Multi-Format DVD Recorder is expected to be highly sought after by consumers who want a robust, easy-to-use, high-capacity storage medium for movie editing and recording. Also, the new Verbatim Multi-Format DVD recorder is a great choice for businesses that need a storage system that uses media compatible with a wide array of other systems.

The Verbatim Multi-Format DVD recorder opens up endless possibilities for users who want to create write-once discs as an archived family history, or rewritable discs to store and share the latest music. The drive burns and reads DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-RW and CD-R formats, providing much greater versatility for DVD and CD recording. Plus, the drive also reads DVD-ROM, DVD movies and CD-ROM media.

The Verbatim Multi-Format DVD recorder offers a complete solution for digital recording. It will ship complete with easy-to-use DVD playback, authoring and recording software that allows users to capture video clips, transfer video, create and edit movies, add titles and other effects to movies and video, and burn images to a disc quickly and easily. Additionally, the new Multi-Format drive will ship with CD burning and creation software for recording music and data onto CD-R and CD-RW media.

The Verbatim Multi-Format DVD Recorder, which has an IDE interface and was designed to be installed into a PC, is an excellent replacement for CD-RW drives that don't support the 4.7GB per disc capacity of DVD.

The Verbatim Multi-Format DVD Recorder will be available at leading computer and consumer electronics retailers in January 2003 at an estimated retail price of $349.
