Xbox 360 Update to Void Unathorized Storage Devices

Xbox 360 Update to Void Unathorized Storage Devices

Gaming Oct 19,2009 0

The upcoming Xbox 360 update will make unauthorized third party storage devices cease to work with MNicrosoft's Xbox 360 game console, the company said. Microsoft's Major Nelson announced the news on his blog.

"If you've moved your profile or saved games onto one to "back it up," you'd better move it back onto an authorized Xbox 360 storage device prior to taking the update. If you continue to use an unauthorized Memory Unit after the update, you will not be able to access your stored profile or saved games," he wrote.

Apparently, 'authorized' storage devices extend as far as Microsoft's own products. Information about officially licensed Xbox 360 storage devices or accessories can be read here.

The update, which is expected to be released next week, is part of Microsoft's Preview Program for the Xbox Live members. This update will include features such as Zune, Facebook and Twitter integration.
