Sanyo Electric Launches LCD Projector Targeted for Education Market

Sanyo Electric Launches LCD Projector Targeted for Education Market

Consumer Electronics Jul 19,2006 0

Sanyo has developed the LP-XL40, a front projector that enables the projection of an 80-inch (203 cm diagonally) screen from the position 103 cm away, approximately 1/3 the previous distance. It is mainly targeted for the education market. So far, the LP-XU86 was the product that boasted the shortest focal distance among the company's previous models, although it could only project a 41-inch (104 cm diagonally) screen from the same distance, 103 cm away. The latest model allows the projection of a 60-inch (152 cm diagonally) screen even from its minimum projection distance, 76 cm away.

In the previous model, the optical system was composed of 11 projection lenses. By adding two large aperture aspherical lenses, the latest model boasts the optimized optical system. The aperture is increased to 1.8 times that of the previous model. The 3LCD projector that uses three 0.6-inch (1.5 cm diagonally) liquid crystal panels. Each panel is 1024 x 768. It uses a 200 W extra-high pressure mercury lamp as the light source. The screen brightness and the contrast ratio are 1500 lm and 400:1, respectively. The power consumption is 245 W (standby time: 9 W).
