General Interest Mar 13,2001 0

"...Matsushita starts selling the portable DVD-ROM/CD-RW "KXL-CB10AN" drive from 23rd of March. The drive's price would be around 50,000 Yen (418$). The interface connection would be PC card of the Type2, the slot where it corresponds to the CardBus is needed and supported from Windows 9x/2000 OS systems. The drive is capable of 8x writing, 4x re-writing and 24x reading (for CD) and 8x reading for DVD-ROM (& DVD-RAM).

The drive's buffer is 2MB and the average seek time is 150ms. The drive doesn't seem to have any anti-buffer underun protection (like BURN-Proof or JustLink) and it doens't have any audio optical output. The attacted DVD playback softare is "PowercDvd VR-X" and the CDR software "Bs Recorder GOLD" and "Bs CliP" (for packet writing). Last the drive's size is 130×157×18.5mm (width x depth x height) and weights 340gr..." NULL
