New HTC One M9 Goes On Sale Today
HTC will begin selling its new flagship device, the HTC One M9 that comes with the UH OH Protection, online in the U.S. at 12:01 a.m. ET on Friday, March 27 and in-store on April 10 at major carriers and retailers. The third generation of the HTC One boasts an all-metal unibody design with a new scratch resistant, dual finish. It is launching in the U.S. in two color options - gunmetal gray and dual-tone silver with subtle gold mirror polished sides. The smartphone is running on the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop release with the most advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor.
The HTC One M9 delivers a personalized smartphone experience with the new HTC Sense 7. it is equipped with a 20 megapixel rear-facing camera, a front-facing UltraPixel camera and HTC BoomSound dual front-facing speakers featuring 5.1 channel Dolby Audio Surround.
A three-finger swipe on the screen connects the phone to compatible TVs or external speakers. The integration of HTC Connect with Qualcomm AllPlay smart media platform and Blackfire Research wireless media technology enables high-quality content to be streamed from the HTC One M9 to multiple home entertainment devices around the house.
HTC's UH OH Protection provides a one-time free replacement within the first 12 months of purchase for cracked screens, water damage or a different carrier variant for customers wanting or needing to switch networks. If the UH OH Protection isn't used within 12 months, HTC will give $100 in credit towards a future purchase of an HTC One.
The HTC One M9 will be available at AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. It will also be available from Amazon, Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile specialty stores, Costco Wholesale and Target. An unlocked version will be available on www.htc.com for $649, starting tonight (March 27th) at 12:01 AM ET, and for the first time a 12-month interest-free financing option. In addition to the Unlocked version, HTC.com will also offer carrier versions with the same payment option.
Samsung will also open pre-orders for its latest Galaxy S6 smartphones on Friday make them available for purchase at carrier and retail stores on April 10 -- the same day that HTC's One M9 goes on sale and that Apple begins taking preorders for its Apple Watch.
On Thursday, Sprint said separately that its version of the Galaxy S6 will be sold via its leasing program, which starts at $80 a month for both the device and service fees. The Galaxy S6 Edge will cost $85 a month.
Sprint customers can pay $5 extra a month for a version of the Galaxy S6 with 64 gigabytes of memory, or $10 more for a 128GB version.
AT&T said the base 32GB model of the Galaxy S6 will start at $22.84 a month under the AT&T Next 24 monthly installment plan. The S6 Edge will start at $27.17 a month. With a two-year contract, the Galaxy S6 will cost $200, while the S6 Edge will cost $299. Without a contract, AT&T will sell the smartphone at $685 for the Galaxy S6 and $814 for the Galaxy S6 Edge.
T-Mobile customers can pay $28.33 a month for 24 months or pay $679.92 outright for the Galaxy S6. The Galaxy S6 Edge costs $32.49 a month or the full retail price of $779.76.
