In brief: Facebook Simplifies "Notes", Twitter Eyes Asian Content
Facebook has surfaced a little-used blogging feature called "Notes," making it easy to use and elegant to look at. Seperately, Twitter said on Tuesday it plans to accelerate its push for content partnerships in Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
Originally intended for text too long to fit into a status update, the Notes feature started in 2006 and was widely ignored. In what seems to be a move to win bloggers back from sites such as Tumblr, Facebook has confirmed the changes to the feature are a test.
As fas as Twitter's latest moves, the company has appointed a Singapore-based executive, Rishi Jaitly, to boost teams in major markets such as Australia, India, and Japan as well as to expand into Greater China and Southeast Asia, the company said in a statement.
Twitter has been aggressively expanding its capabilities to carry pictures, video and interactive content.
